Do Austrian’s really eat Schnitzel with Noodles?Popularized by Rodgers and Hammerstein in the Sound of Music, Maria counts “Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels, door bells and sleigh bells and Schnitzel with Noodles” amongst her favorite things. In reality no self -respecting Austrian would ever serve Schnitzel with Noodles. A proper Austrian Weiner Schnitzel is served with parsley potatoes, cranberry jam and lemon wedges….not a noodle in sight!
